Ms. Dixon and Ms. Thompson's 8th grade M-Block came out to harvest cherry tomatoes

 and potatoes.

Plus one 7th grader who came out later and filled the bucket with fingerling potatoes. 

They'll turn into home fries in the cafeteria!

The garden is growing like crazy. There are tons of cherry tomatoes and quite a few cucumbers that students have enjoyed in the cafeteria, and there are more to come. The potatoes are ready for harvesting, and after they are harvested, some Equinox students will bring them to the Haven Food Shelf.

Spring Planting 2018

During Field Day this year we got a lot of planting done. We planted potatoes, cherry tomatoes, peppers, popcorn, beans, and squash. Of course we did more weeding too!
The wheat and rye that were planted last fall are heading up and looking gorgeous.

In its ever-changing identity, the garden is now turning into a history garden. We are hoping it will be a resource for the whole school to use across the curriculum.

We will bring some of what we grow to the Haven Food Shelf as usual, and some of the vegetables will be served in the HMMS cafeteria.

Part of the garden is dedicated to Old World crops: wheat, rye, cucumbers and carrots. Part is dedicated to New World crops: corn, beans, squash, potatoes, tomatoes, and peppers. The herb garden includes herbs that have been grown throughout the ages. We also have a little patch of upland rice. We'll see how that grows!
